Any member of the GHS community may nominate another member. Nominations require a written essay highlighting the nominee’s contribution and detailing how it reflects our school’s guiding principles. The GHS Core Values & Beliefs, as well as specific social and civic expectations related to character, are listed below for your reference.
The selection committee has noted a wide variety in the quality of the nomination essays and wants every nominee to receive a fair evaluation of their qualifications. Therefore, the committee is encouraging all nominators—students or adults—to submit well-crafted essays. Students are encouraged to seek assistance from the Reading and Writing Center.
Nominee contributes to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Nominee ensures that equity, diversity, and the sense of belonging are intentionally messaged and prioritized.
Nominee promotes social justice and demonstrate citizenship, integrity, respect, and value for others.
Award winners are notified and announced during the school day. Nominators of award winners are expected to speak at the Dr. Thomas Neagle Essence Award Ceremonies, and all students, staff, and families are welcome to attend to celebrate our awardees at these ceremonies.
The award ceremonies will be broadcast live to all students.
