Third Grade

Third grade students:

  • visit the Library every week for book check-out. This is an opportunity for them to select materials for pleasure reading. In addition, they are welcome to come to the library at any time during the school week if they have their teacher's permission.

  • visit the library on a flexible schedule for lessons that coordinate with their curricular studies in the classroom

  • become increasingly independent users of the library by using the online library catalog

  • locate books for genre studies on Tall Tales, Mysteries, and Biographies

  • use district databases: CultureGrams, Grolier, World Book and Image Quest

  • continue citation of sources using GPS Works Cited List.

Third graders are learning about different genres of books. So far they have read realistic fiction and historical fiction. Ask them what makes them different, and which one they like best!
