First Graders
- visit the Library Media Center for a weekly literature-based lesson with Mrs. Veschi.
- learn about how to use the library and how to locate books that interest them.
- are exposed to a variety of authors and illustrators, the various components of a story, and the process of how a story becomes a book.
- learn about a variety of information topics, such as trees, famous people, continents, recycling, holidays, animals and folktales. All lessons are designed to get children excited about reading and learning.
- are assisted by the Library Media Specialist and classroom teacher in selecting a book. Some book choices include beginning chapter books, picture books, non-fiction books, easy readers, fairy takes, poetry, and books on CDs.
