Second graders

• visit the Library Media Center for weekly lessons and book check-out with Mrs. Veschi.

• learn about how to use the library, including the online catalog, and how it can help them locate books that interest them.

• learn how to conduct research and complete several projects related to their classroom curriculum - community helpers, Mexico and mini-beasts.

• are introduced to the library's online research databases.

• learn about literature - the parts of a story, reading strategies, authors and illustrators.

• are assisted by the Library Media Specialist and classroom teacher in selecting 2 books, including beginning chapter books, picture books, non- fiction books, easy readers, fairy tales, poetry, and books on CDs.
