The GDRMS school counselors help all students benefit from their school experience through attention to personal, social, emotional, and academic needs. We facilitate short-term counseling to deal with school related issues and help students succeed with their social-emotional IEP goals.
Students may see their counselor by contacting her directly or through referrals from parents, guardians, school staff, and/or with a peer. Students can schedule an appointment directly with their counselor, ask one of the teachers to contact the counselor or send an email from their school account. When a student makes an appointment, the counselor may need to see the student during class time but every effort is made to meet for part of a class so that a full class is not missed.
Counselors are available during the school day for phone calls with parents. Parents may also call or email their child's counselor to make an appointment to see the counselor at anytime during the school day. The counselors prefer that you make an appointment, as very often, we can not meet with a parent who just drops in to school. The counselor can usually meet with a parent within a reasonable amount of time.
