In order to help facilitate a smooth transition for all students, the middle and elementary school counselors meet in the spring to discuss student counseling needs.
All incoming 5th graders will receive their schedule over the summer. SchoolBrains will indicate who your child's school counselor will be. Once a student enters 5th grade, he/she will be assigned a counselor for that school year. In 6th - 8th grade, students will be assigned a counselor that they will have for 6th - 8th grade. This allows the counselor, student, family and educators to build a better understanding of the student's needs and promotes healthier relationships.
At the beginning of the school year, the counselor will visit the 5th grade classrooms to introduce herself to all students. At this time, students will hear more about what a middle school counselor does. They will also learn how to get in contact with their counselor as well as discuss some opportunities available through the counseling department, for example, friendship groups during lunch.
