Mr. Winter
Seniors Homework
Song Essay and Presentation.
Essay Project 300 to 400 Points.
The song essay assignments seek to develop the student’s ability to confront and examine complex language. The advantage of using song lyrics is that students have already been exposed to the sophisticated use of language in songs. This context allows them to develop critical thinking skills in an area that they are already familiar with. In addition, these assignments help to directly promote student writing skills that will be applied to more challenging tasks. The use of these skills will be drawn upon later in the semester in writing responses to expository pieces of writing.
Prompt
Write an essay that explores, explains and examines the lyrics of a song. The essay should be similar to the examples. The song may not be offensive to parents in general.
