Read everyday for at least 20 minutes.
Reread the same books.
Talk about the books. Fiction Stories: Talk about what the characters are doing in the story. Have your student retell what happened from the beginning to the end. How did the character feel? Nonfiction: Have your student tell you 2 or 3 things they learned about the topic in their book.
Make connections: What did the story make you think of? Can you relate to the character?
