156B Week 4
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
First fidelity model is achieved
CAD model has redesign ideas inputted
More SolidWorks Simulation will be run over the weekend
Accomplishments from Previous Week
First fidelity model is made
It can apply pressure well
It can stand by itself and be moved
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Another build day?
Have simulations for the redesign
Redesign the parts that went wrong

April 16, 2020 (Zoom):
Model assembly as one solid body to see deflection
Take rod's inner and outer thickness into account
Have SolidWorks simulation on multiple computers now. Will run it before next build day
Consider multiple parallel bars
Inputted into the next design
Talk to Steve Roberts about electronics
Going to email Steve Roberts soon/Ask Simon's dad for electronics assistance since he is available in person
Deal with the cables with something other than zip ties
Design wire slots onto the arm
Find out solenoids max torque/force before release
Conduct more simulation
How will we be able to measure the back pressure of the actuator current sensor?
Will ask Steve Roberts, Simon's dad, and research for assistance on that
Work with someone nearby
We worked with 4 of us and everyone is safe!
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
How to measure back pressure?
What if there is too much deflection again?
Will this base be enough to support the arm?
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Everything is available as of right now..
