I thought that if the proximal 2 clamps locked separately from the distal double ball/socket apparatus it would allow the arm to stay mostly in place. (4/12 email)
4 mm of flex is quite a bit during these procedures. As long as it was constant and not swaying it wouldn’t be an issue. If you think there would be sway during the procedure, then we should look at alternate materials or shorter arms and more lock points to shorten the moment arm. (4/12 email)
I don’t think it would be very useful to try and attach the needle to the arm. There are already existing needle guides that fit on the ultrasound probes that aren’t very widely used. (4/12 email)
One other aspect I was thinking about was ensuring that the profile of the arm and probe attachment mechanism was low enough profile that existing probe covers could fit over the arm. (4/13 email)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Building right now in a group is based on our judgment (4/9 zoom)
Deflection maybe too high so what will we do (4/9 zoom)
Change material settings
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Just wondered how the arm works (4/9 zoom)
Explained the location of the parts and how they interact
Risks and Areas of Concern
4mm deflection maybe too much for the function of the arm
Foot pedal is still a gray area, but we have one. We need to learn how to attach it to be the locking mechanism
