Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Began brainstorming multiple ideas to meet requirements set out by sponsor
Multiple ideas generated for each component analysis with pros and cons table
Met with sponsor to understand which ideas are acceptable and preferred
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Split project into separate components: Locking mechanism, arm members, base fixture, and probe holding mechanism
Began individual component analysis reports
Realized user/patient analysis is necessary to ensure safety and ease of use of product
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Combine ideas, ensuring they mesh well and feasible with sponsor
Email sponsor/have weekly meetings to ensure ideas are in line with their vision
Begin CAD of selected designs
CAD of each subcomponent must assembly smoothly on CAD
Email CAD designs to sponsor to iterate designs upon feedback
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
The arm's ability to move freely is important so locking mechanism must be flexible and precise
Wires for foot pedal must be long enough to wrap under or around the bed
The wire engagement allows the arm to hold it's position and lock the joints
The ideal base support placement is to be attached to the ultrasound machine
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Component analysis should be done on a part of a system rather than on specific parts such as bearings
Risks and Areas of Concern (i.e. show stoppers)
Design must be safe and free of sharp corners
Design must be limited in size to fit into the sterile sheath
The design must be intuitively understandable to operate, should utilize a foot pedal control system
The design must be cheap in cost
