156B Week 1
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Base design has been created as an assembly on SolidWorks
FEA completed in one direction
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Base design has stayed the same. There was a lot of troubles over the break due to the uncertainty of the class still going on, team members have left San Diego, and shelter-in-place.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Create another preliminary design using the info gathered from the upcoming instructor meeting.

N/A. Sponsor is only available Friday for this week. A zoom meeting will be conducted with him and Shiv Patel.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
FEA analysis only takes into account one direction from our risk reduction presentation, and in reality the SonoHand will take loads from all directions.
We will apply loads in the other two directions to simulate a "real" scenario.
How will we make sure that the arm will not flip due to a high load?
We had the portable base as one of the design concepts for this reason, but also we will perform more analysis in before prototyping further.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
The comments were not necessarily on the SonoHand, but the presentation itself.
We had too many words on our slides and not enough pictures.
Having a prototype assembled would have also been good, but due to the circumstances it was difficult.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Risks
If we continue with the IV clamp, how will we design it to where the weight distribution will make the SonoHand not collapse. We will apply FEA in all directions to resolve this situation to see how our assembly will move.
Areas of Concern
How to assemble this project. Barry has had experience with Protolabs, but not all of us are currently in San Diego. Simon is doing some work at his dad's company, so he may be able to meet some ends there.
