Project Objectives
The motivation of this project is to optimize a previously created system that consists of micro hollow needles which would essentially allow plastic surgeons to deliver cosmeceuticals to the skin while carrying a micro-needling surgery simultaneously.
High Priority Objectives
Improve the current design by increasing the stability of the needle platform
Improve the stiffness of the needles
Second Priority Objectives
Provide axial mobility of the microneedles
Other Constraints and Issues
Do not have access to laborites and workspace, will have to continue project virtually.
Need to ensure that needles will not break during use of the device.
All the required fluid in the storage system is dispensed during the procedure.
Making sure the system is sterilizable.
WOW Design Solution
Create a CAD model/simulation that displays a cartridge that can successfully deliver all desired agent without breaking needles.
Risk Reduction Strategy
List areas of risk and strategy that will be used to eliminate risk really in the design process.
Tested previous team's prototype to understand the constraints and problems that exist.
Discovered that agent delivery system does not work as a whole.
The driving mechanism has no movement because the needle grid is fixed.
The needles are not stabilized and do not pulsate axially.
The storage tank is not sealed from the outer encasement so the liquid inside it leaks.
Overall, the device has a very large size compared to other needle cartridges.
Intermediate Milestones
Identifying meaningful intermediate milestones is a critical for effective project management. Together with your sponsor identify such milestones, and specify specific performance requirements you aim to meet at each milestone.
