Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Finished first full scale prototype
Tested folding motion
Tested locker capacity
Changed locker design to have one long side panel (the one that is being attached to frame) so it is more secure
Changed locker design to have extended top so it rests on the top of structure instead of bottom support (better so no surfboard damage when taking in and out)
In progress damping analysis
In progress static load analysis

Accomplishments from Previous Week
Built first prototype (Adri)
Foam board, tape hinges, fabric, magnets, and wood handle
Tested dimensions by putting in shoes, phone, keys, and towels, they all fit
Redid locker box CAD to reflect design changes (Adri)
Impact on society report (Natalie)
Handled budget and orders (Kevin)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Research options for locker handle (Natalie)
Working model analysis to determine if/how much damping we need (Natalie)
Research options for bracket to secure box when locked (Annamarie)
Experiment with optimizing shape of fabric to go on back of locker (Annamarie)
Static stress analysis on Solidworks or Ansys of locker under load (Kevin)
Put draft into LateX and determine whether team wants to use it for report (Adri)
Buy and pick up nuts and bolts to attach hinges to board (Adri)
Build second prototype with real hinges once they come in (Adri, Kevin, maybe others)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Really like the mock-prototype completed using tape. Very impressed and helped visualize the concept better
Warned about potential safety issues for parts that stick out - recommended looking into solutions such as rounded edges or alternate placement
Want confirmation about handle location physically - is the current position the best location?
Would like us to look into handle types to ensure the least amount of awkwardness with usability
Potential new bonus objective looking into proximity sensors for door - Will be discussed more in detail at week 4 meeting with sponsor (thursday evening)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Make sure all members have their names on the Goals for Next Week objectives
Add more detail to the progress reports
Ask professor questions about working model first, and may know grad students who know how to use it well
Look at spring hinges with more precise specs
Look at using torsion springs with piano hinges
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Sponsors want single locking system and say it should be possible, but have not given final descision
Should we keep working on dual locking system?
Going to ask again in next meeting
Resources or Information Required but not Available
