Final Design Review 6:00 PM Thursday June 4
MAE team created a zoom meeting for this
Sponsor prefers nuts and bolts but will accept riveting. They want to avoid welding at all costs
They had concerns about if the door is locked mechanically while the surfboard is in.
This issue was solved because there is a locking slot in the box to lock the door, not in the frame itself
They aren't worried about fabric glue because they want to service the system the little as possible
Our team had a few concerns about attaching dampers, but all teams will think on it and get back to each other with solutions
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Concerns about fabric glue reducing the capabilities to maintain the system - recommended we check loctite for suggestions on reapplication
Thickness of the metal should be designed for use and abuse, that being said .6in sheets should be fine
rho*v^2 - use this to determine the strength of the magnets needed with a surface forewind
need to balance the weight with robustness of the system
6061 is a good choice, and start with the ideal thickness while doing tests.
Justify whatever number is chosen for the design wind
Front page of report- often teams put UCSD logo and Sponsor logos in the top corners and a project photo in the center
As long as aluminum is anodized, galvanization shouldn't be an issue
The user's manual is supposed to explain how to use it by a consumer or user
Fabrication instruction is for assembly and non-standard fabrication instructions
Overall, the instructions need to have enough information to recreate the system
A table is fine for the BOM in the report
Spec sheets can be just links to the online ones for purchased items, and we just create ones for the custom designed pieces
Project management needs task distribution and the final Gantt Chart
