156B Week 3
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Footrest assembly (A0002) created; mounting bracket (P0001) and platform (P0002) parts modeled
Backrest assembly (A0001) updated; ratchet (P0006) and pawl (P0007) parts modeled
Armrest assembly created, 1 DOF (A0007) and 2 DOF (A0004); arm hinge (P0004), desk (P0005), 2 DOF slider (P0006), and 1 DOF slider (P0008) modeled
Complete chair assembly (A0006) created; chair base modeled
CAD spreadsheet updated for updated backrest, footrest, armrest, and complete chair assemblies
Standardized on 5/16"-18 screw
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Chair base modeled
Footrest modeled
Armrest modeled
Backrest updated
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Present design to sponsors
Purchase COTS parts
Prepare CAD for manufacturing
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
4/15:
Will look at papers and pull measurement data for us
*See "W3 Professor and Also Sponsor Meeting 4/15/2020"*
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
4/15:
Use powerpoint for visualization of concepts -> powerpoint created for 4/17 meeting (*See "W3 4/17/2020 Update Meeting"*) and shared Solidworks screen during meeting
Design for assembly and manufacturability, avoid things that require precision (like press fit)
Develop sliding friction model, look at linear slider problem from MAE 3 website
Might have to contact sellers for CAD and dimensions
*See "W3 Professor and Also Sponsor Meeting 4/15/2020"*
4/17:
2 DOF arm is likely unnecessary -> 1 DOF version created
Make BOM
Look into ways of covering sharp edges in design (COTS plastic caps, 3d printed parts) for safety
Look into eliminating side-to-side motion in backrest design
Remain aware of compactness of design
Look into ease of use/intuitiveness of ratchet and pawl mechanism, possibly design lever
*See "4/17 Delson Meeting Notes"*
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
