Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Start analysis and research on RC control
Determine deliverables and action plan for the future
Design possible modification of the existing tank and CAD it
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Fixed the MATLAB code for tether, now it matches the experimental result
Purchased RC vehicle arrived, and start testing it
Almost finished research on RC control
Finished first draft of report
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Testing summary:(Katie, David)
Test cables of different wire content, etc. (by itself)
Test adding weight to tank (power supply replicating); sinkage in the soil? Traction/pulling force changes?
COMPARE: tether with power supply cables versus added weight
Research summary: (Yaz)
Treads
Wireless communication
Continue researching existing solutions
Prototyping summary: (David, Jiuqi)
Taking knowledge from testing and research and designing optimal model
CAD design
Come up with a way to decide (criteria list) of what tanks to purchase
Find closest existing RC tanks, purchase, and adjust as necessary/is possible and compare results

Problem would be with the cam signal or wifi (so should be tested instead?)
Radio signal should not be an issued
Try analog camera(what drone racers use)
Eric expects digital signal to be lost
Simpler to transmit data through tether
Eric: could get thin tether with analog camera (could use telephone cable)
Eric: power through tether would cause it to be bulkier
Ian: might even want to replace motor with a bigger gear ratio for any expensive vehicle
Eric: should expand on work done so far instead of finding a tank
Focus on more tether testing and analysis as well as ways to improve tread traction and mobility (making turns)

Find existing tank solution (maybe toy) and do some modifications to see if it can work

Risks and Areas of Concern
RC control might now be quite realistic, because usually the high freqeuncy signal may get absorbed by rocks. There might be an equipment that could enhance the signal, but we don't know if it works in our situation.
Dual gearbox does not fit the chassis of existing tank kits
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Additional tools to modify the existing tank
How the equipment enhance the signal, and is it fit to our situaiton
Schedule
CAD and modify the tank as soon as the tool arrives
Test different tether friction
Finsh research on RC control
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Drumel set: $69.48 (Homedepot)
Dual Gearbox: $10.40 (Amazon)
Tamiya Tank Kit: $16.83
Remaining: $2421.01
Progress on Report and Webpage
Finished Draft 1
Still working on other parts
