Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Scope of the project was redefined to meet remote working restriction
Goal is now to perform a literature review, and to finalize the artificial burrow (AB) for testing
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Materials for the artificial burrow were collected
An RC tank with treads was purchased to test basic failure modes
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Test, quantify, and report failure of the purchased tank: Yaz
Brainstorm ways to add dirt to the AB:
Divide literature search tasks among members:
Cable friction on dirt
Current burrow-scope/inspection vehicles solutions
Design solutions
Quantify a test matrix to be performed on the design solutions
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor requests during problem redefinition meeting, week 1, on Zoom:
Research each of the 4 design ideas more
Looking into "snake robots" is a good place to start
Try to accompany ideas/solutions with CAD models as much as possible
Make the AB as realistic as possible; this could be the main deliverable of the quarter
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Prof. Delson encouraged us to buy a cheap RC tank to test failure during week 10 meeting. We have purchased one and will start testing this week
Prof. Delson thinks full simulation will be really challenging; wants us to focus on hand analysis for tether friction. This was emphasized during problem redefinition meeting in week 1
Schedule
Main milestone to accomplish:
Finalize the AB
Perform analysis and research on multiple design solutions
Perform analysis on highest risk areas: tether drag; sharp turns; and inclinations
Create CAD models for the AB, and designs etc
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent: $33.33 on an RC tank
Remaining: $2566.67
