Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
work was split up among four team members
two are performing theoretical analyses and the other two are performing experimental tests on either the force that the current motor can pull or the force that the tether produces.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished the theoretical analyses
made an algorithm to find the force required to pull the tether given various section numbers and lengths, angles, inclines, etc.
Performed experiments to find the force needed to pull the tether through two burrow set ups
Performed experiments to find the maximum force that the current motor can pull
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Refine and finish theoretical and experimental results
discuss the next steps with sponsors and professor
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
meeting was on Wednesday, 4/22
approved most of the items on the purchasing list
needed items were purchased
suggested that the amount of dirt needed should be quantified before purchasing
ended up using existing dirt in testing area
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Two meetings were held, one on Monday, 4/20, and one on Friday, 4/24
Recommended that we split work up into theoretical and experimental analysis
Additionally recommended that we focus on the pulling force that the current tank/motor can handle and the force required to pull the tether through different burrow simulations
Actions taken: work was split up among the four team members and theoretical/experimental tests were performed

Risks and Areas of Concern
A risk is that the analyses were performed using information from simulated burrows, not actual ones
An area of concern is how could we make the treads more compliant to handle the rough terrain
