Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
First test with fluorescent pupae on Tuesday.
Can see fluorescent only under the fluorescent microscope
Need to manufacture revolving door
Accomplishments from Previous Week
[Jasmine] Build hinged, adjustable, and inclined block
[Jasmine] Improve the waterproofing of the funnel
[Gregory, Jing] Ensure that each gate pocket holds exactly one pupae
[Gregory, Jing] Make inclined grooves for pupae to come out of the revolving door after sorting
[Gregory] Build enclosure for the revolving door (needs to hold the color sensor, motor, be waterproof to contain water without leaking)
[Jing] make 2nd version of funnel
[Woo Jae] Inspection of UV light on modified pupae (red-eye and blue-body)
Light intensity provided by pupae (both types) are too weak for the sensor to pick up
Meeting with Jaeson on Friday (2/20) to examine lab's fluorescent microscope
Pivot to either use the focused UV light with color sensor
Or CV on the microscope screen
[Woo Jae] buy UV light that fits in enclosure
Stick UV light used, light was too spread out and unfocused
May buy focused UV light depending on Friday's results or use fluorescent microscope
[Woo Jae] buy control horns (24T), steel mesh screen
[Woo Jae] Buy water sensor and switch for control pump
[Woo Jae] Revised Ch.1, 3, 5 of report based off of comments from Prof and TA
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
[Jasmine] Determine optimal flow rate
[Woo Jae] Add sensor and switch to control AC pump
[Woo Jae] Incorporate servo motor into revolving door
[Woo Jae] Incorporate color sensor into revolving door
[Woo Jae] Figure out object detection sensor
[Jing] Manufacture revolving door
[Gregory] Design water-proof enclosure

2/14/2020 In person: Winzeler
Biggest issue: cannot do proof of concept on flow system and color recognition separately if dimorphism is different for each test
Winseler: want to do with smaller (younger) Aedes w/ GFP so size is similar to the subject species
Update on next Tuesday with color sensor testing result
2/18/2020 In person: Jaeson
Light coming off of RFP and BFP pupae was too weak.
Color sensor works with standard LEDs, however, but pupae seems too weak
Try to use the fluorescent microscope with the color sensor to focus the light
Possible switch to using the fluorescent microscope of the lab to inspect, or CV

The report sucks:
ALL figures (unless taken by you) must have a reference/source.
Abstracts should include important design choices, quantitative prototype performance results.
Stay consistent on paragraph indentation and spacing
ALL figures need a figure number, a caption, and must be addressed in main body text.
Prototype Performance, especially the theoretical predictions, should include calculations of test results or predicted test results.
CALCULATIONS!

Professor willing to give feedback if we submit draft before 2/21
