156B Week 3
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Pedro and Chikeng are working on CAD design for electronics casing
should have a 3D printed design by the end of the week
Processor board, motor driver, Bluetooth LE transmitter, and batteries arrived.
Got Bluetooth LE to work with the TinyZero board and was able to transmit data wirelessly
Planning to test Bluetooth signal strength through different thickness of skin, heat generated by battery, and required battery capacity
Should obtain previous team's working prototype this week to begin creating the overall system design
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Set up TinyZero processor board
Got Bluetooth sensor to communicate with TinyZero
Came up with improved electronics casing design after feedback from previous week's presentation
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Replicate previous 156B team's performance using the electronics we purchased
Actuate and stop the nerve lengthening using Bluetooth
Run different tests on entire system to determine required battery capacity
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Did not get to meet with the sponsor but talked to him through email
He wanted to know how we justified our purchase of the TinyZero (email on 4/11/19)
we sent him Pedro's micro controller component analysis and talked about the benefits of small size and modularity of Tiny Circuits components
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Did not meet with Instructor this week because of the Design Proposal Presentation. Comments were taken during presentation
The electronics holder is too blocky and large (in person on 4/11/19)
new design spreads out electronics and wraps around bone
Talk to sponsor about how any extra potential space to fit electronics (in person on 4/11/19)
will be meeting with the sponsor on Thursday (4/18/19) to ask questions
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Electronics casing looks too big and the sharp corners could be harmful to surrounding tissue (in person on 4/11/19)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Bluetooth signal will not be able to transmit reliably though the skin
Nerve lengthening system will output significant heat
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Stall torque
Total energy consumption of the system
Schedule
Update Gantt chart.
Meet with sponsor
Obtain previous team's working prototype and incorporate our purchased electronics
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$ 0.00 spent
$1413.74 remaining
Progress on Report and Webpage
Started on Background, Review of Existing Solutions, Statement of Requirements, Deliverables, Title page, and Appendix with Individual Component Reports for the report
Updated website
