156B Week 1
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Currently our project is in the prototyping status.
Assemble each components once prototypes is manufactured.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Revise in design of prototype is finished.
Some of prototype components are finished (some not finished due to final week and spring break)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish prototype and make tests on the prototype:
Shihao Xu: Redesign and 3D print the third version of transducer gate. Use the transducer to test its water tightness.
Shengkai Peng: Build the initial version of the tank. Minimize friction. Build transducer support.
Quan Chen: Estimate the proper gear ratio and laser cut the gear. Purchase parts and assemble them on water tank.
Qiaosong Liu: 3D print the gantry beam and supports to see if the vertical position can be adjusted properly; also check if the hollow part in the beam can hold the LED stably.
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
No sponsor meeting due to final week and spring break.
Recent goal is settled to be finishing prototype as soon as possible (via email)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
3-D printing is only for prototype, design should be able to manufacture with machines. (Improve design with better manufacturability)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
No class meeting due to spring break.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Prototyping takes more time than we planned, we might need more time on manufacture.
Transducer gate is 3-D printed with MakerBot, which may result in error in dimension.
Most parts are made of delrin and 3-D printing PLA, which are brittle. Further test will focus on this when doing calibration.
