156B Week 2
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Parts for the initial circuit tests are on order. 80% of parts are already delivered.
PIR motion sensor and thermistor has been tested on 4/10.
Glass for top of box and heating tests has been purchased.
Code and analysis for circuitry and glass temperature profiles to begin this week (50% done).
Transient thermal analysis on Solidworks is on progress.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
"First wave" of parts have been ordered
Job assignments completed
Developed initial analysis conditions and parameters
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish testing for individual electrical components and begin testing for combined circuits [Thomas, Jason, Naif]
Finish code for controls [Jason]
Finish in-depth thermal analysis for different positions on glass to check how the temperature profile changes along the glass surface and temperature measurement applications [Naif, Inri]
Update relevant report pages and website [Thomas, Inri]
Purchase "second wave" of parts and the finalized focal heater [Thomas, Jason, Naif, Inri]
Determine the final dimensions and material of the box [Naif, Thomas, Inri, Jason]
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Meeting with sponsor on 4/11 before class (will update this later)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
All comments from 4 April 2018, given in-person
Prefer RTDs rather than thermistors
We are still testing, thermistors have good time response
Worried about temperature uniformity of the glass and temperature measurements for estimate the temperature of the top of the glass
Analysis conducted and will be presented in presentation [4/11]
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
N/A
Risks and Areas of Concern
Individual components do not work together as planned or controls become difficult to implement
PIR motion might detect false motion since it is placed next to a heat source.
Long lead times on future reordered parts
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Need assistance with doing a more robust thermal analysis
Schedule
Describe upcoming milestone
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Amount spent: 331$
Amount remaining: $4500-$331=$4169
