156A Week 10
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Design of sliders finalized
Design of finger/hand lift and temperature measurement in progress
Research on Risk Reduction Components: heating, temp sensors, motion sensors, cooling in progress
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Narrowed slider design down to a manual and an automatic option
Obtained Operator Manual for Thermal Box
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Complete Risk Reduction Analysis: Heating component power specc (Jason), Temperature Sensor power specs (Thomas), Motion Sensor power specs (Naif), Ambient Heating Power Specs (Inri)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Changed design to include a raised platform rather than a rod to place knuckle
Power not a concern for cooling test - further research into feasibilty conducted. Conclusion below. Sponsors are still hoping for a theoretical design of a cooling test.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Look at RTD sensors for temp measurement - Action: component was researched, found unnecessarily too precise and accurate for our purposes
Cooling is possible with thermoelectrics - Action: component was researched and found to require a separate box testing design from the thermal (heating) box. Team decided not to pursue due to time constraints. Design of the thermal (cooling) box postponed until thermal (heating) is complete.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Power requirements
Circuitry and a suitable controller
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Circuitry and wiring assistance
Design advice for raising platform small distances. (5mm, box is about 200mm tall)
Schedule
Next Milestone: Risk Reduction Analysis - Power requirements and circuitry design for the thermal box. Due Tuesday.
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent ($0), Remaining (TBD - Sponsor is finalizing budget)
Progress on Report and Webpage
Begun Webpage setup
