156B Week 1
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We are currently in the process of ordering parts for our initial circuit tests.
Plan to use an Arduino microcontroller to individually control all of our electrical components.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Theoretical circuit design (checked again by Steve Roberts) [04/03/2018]
Developed a test plan for comparing the bulb temperature with the glass surface temperature for heating at various voltages, and cooling in response to that.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Goal: test our circuit design and verify that we can control all of our electrical components individually.
Focal heating, motion sensor, temperature sensor
Select a focal heating source based on temperature control (heat rate/ cool rate)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
[04/03/2018 via email] Sponsor is skeptical of Halogen bulbs (as suggested by Steve Roberts) for use as a focal heating source because they do not cool very quickly.
Because they are so cheap, we will test them against the current heating source and others.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
[03/15/2018 meeting in-person] Temperature sensor options:
We are ordering thermistors, and a thermocouple recommended by Omega to test in our circuits tests this week.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Theoretical circuit design is done but we still have to test with our actual componenets.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
We are planning to order parts online; should expect them by the end of the week or Monday of Week 2.
Schedule
Describe upcoming milestone
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
In progress; still formulating budget
As of now (04/03/18) have not spent any of the Sponsor money.
Progress on Report and Webpage
