Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Running further testing with raspberry pi and new flow rate and pressure sensors to correlate flow velocity and pressure with accelerometer readings.
Finishing construction of test bed Poly-carbonate housing.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Successfully took data from the new raspberry pi controller setup.
CAD the holes in the polycarbonate so that it can attached to the aluminum housing
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Order 80/20 bolts, nuts, and brackets for attaching poly-carbonate to 80/20 and 80/20 to plywood. Also buy #7 3/4" wood screws. Sam
Obtain the polycarbonate from sponsors this week. Bryan
Quantify large leaks (mostly ruptures and evident water loss) with MATLAB for different setups in test bed. Sam
Install sensors at different locations of test bed and see how this compares to current readings. Bryan/Gordon
Install sensors (accelerometer, pressure, and flow) at the sprinkler rise. Bryan/Gordon
Finish Solidworks models of final testbed and of pipe flow simulation that shows the air evacuation theory Madeline
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
(In person 5/25/17) Use three pronged approach to comparison of responses; in 0.25 s increments record the standard deviation, maximum, and minimum values. Use all three to tell if something has changed
Now implementing this system instead of pure variance.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Use material to fix acoustic impedance issues with air gaps.
Two materials to be tested, polypropylene oxide and PVC cement
Waiting on second accelerometer to be returned by sponsors to apply acoustic layering
Verified with sponsors are deliverable/scope
Test Bed and progress of relating a second transient to air evacuation
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
The "leak" plot of the front yard tests shown in class had a smaller magnitude than steady state (Comment from class presentation 5/22)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Not sure if second accelerometer will be delivered in time, so that we may permanently attach the first accelerometer to minimize acoustic impedance
Schedule
Update Gantt chart.
Finalize test bed by 6/4/17
Obtain polycarbonate from sponsors this week
Obtain bolts and attachments for test bed this week
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Amount spent: $808.85
Amount remaining: $1691.25
Estimate for polycarbonate sent to sponsor
Estimated cost: $421
Estimated remaining: $1270
