Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Begun analysis and optimization of entrance length and flow profile to ensure no turbulence in observation space
Determined material (i.e. roughness) is irrelevant for laminar flow, therefore material is dependent only on image quality
In the process of selecting an ideal pump for our application
Will prepare report of theoretical dimensions of chamber and pump inlet determined from flow and entrance length analysis (Risk Reduction)
Once dimensions and flow profile are established, highest risk is addressed and image processing / feedback control can begin
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Determined list of possible pumps, began image processing, analyzed entrance lengths
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Optimize entrance length to create laminar fully developed flow profile
Select a pump
Determine size and dimensions of observation chamber

5 March 2015 Meeting with Jules and Dr. Franks at SIO:
Chamber specifications: Laminar flow, cuvette with flat walls, ideal pump, feedback control (1cm x 1cm)
Purchase HDTV 1080p 1920x1080 Camera
Should be able to control both up and down movement with vertical current
Keep organisms in view (7mm x 5mm x 5mm view area at 80 fps) just long enough to immobilize so that they (SIO) can scan
Image quality not paramount
Wall effects > Turbulence
Will not be an issue if entrance length is sufficient
