Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We placed an order for all the parts we will need to fabricate the first prototype.
We started fabricating the parts, including the mounts and winching system, using the materials we do have
We tested if the oil seals (which are not stainless steel) will still work after being submerged in sea water for 6 days
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Purchase order for first prototype has been completed.
Motor coupler is fabricated.
We 3-D printed the winching system parts.
The plastic elements of the chassis were fabricated.
The test with the seal that had been submerged for 6 days was inconclusive: the pressure case leaked during testing, but the source is not clear.
Postponed fabricating the endcaps because it is not certain what style of range finding sensor will be implemented.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Confirm the validity of using the CruzPro bronze thru-hull range finder with SPAWAR so that the sensor endcap can be fabricated. -Everyone
Redesign the sensor endcap if necessary for the fitting of a range finder.
Fabricate the sensor endcap.
Redesign the motor endcap if necessary to make room for eyebolts.
Fabricate the motor endcap.
Widen the inner surface of the PVC pipe with the lathe and smooth with sandpaper.
Assemble the winch when gears and bearings arrive.
Create a controller code that controls the speed of the actual winch.
Complete the first draft of the report.
Add all the multimedia and components that we chosen to the website.
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor wanted us to wait on fabricating the endcaps because they wanted more to time to allow Pacific Gyre to come up with a mount, and to allow more time to research which sensors to use.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
None.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
The sensors have not been finalized. This is creating a delay. SPAWAR has not asked us to choose the sensors, but it seems that we may have to research before our next meeting in order to make a valid suggestion.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
The buoyancy of the surface float.
Schedule
We have fallen behind schedule, but the unforseen speed with which most of our parts will arrive will likely put us back on schedule.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
We are now buying everything through UCSD and telling SPAWAR the cost for them to buy materials for the MAE department
Our current expenditures total: $543
Our amount remaining is: $1957
Progress on Report and Webpage
