Progress Report: Week 5
Overview:
We will be testing this Wednesday with the laser vibrometer to determine whether or not the “memory foam” will be an acceptable solution for eliminating vibration. If we determine that the foam is not as effective as desired, we will move on to our next best option. An air bladder system will be implemented into our design to isolate the cradle from the bore and nearly eliminate all vibration.
The remainder of the design should not be affected by the implementation of an air bladder and we will be able to go ahead with the fabrication of the cradle at this point.
Accomplishments from Previous Week:
We determined that we are ready for vibration testing this week and completed the design of our cradle with two options for our vibration elimination components.
Goals for Next Week:
· Analyze vibration measurements, make a conclusion
· Order air bladder (if deemed necessary)
· Begin fabrication of cradle
· Finalize air bladder assembly

Dr. Devor and Hana made comments about our assembly design and we have made these minor adjustments as necessary. We scheduled a meeting to take vibration measurements of the old cradle in the bore with and without “memory foam.” We were asked to look into the procurement of an air bladder system if deemed necessary and have found a provider with a quote and 5 day lead time.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments:
We spoke about the implementation of an air bladder system to produce a low spring constant. This system is very effective but may not be easy to find or implement. After researching viable options, we have determined a provider with minimal lead time as mentioned above.
Risks and Areas of Concern:
Considering the memory foam solution is inadequate we will have to order an air bladder system and successfully implement this into our current design.

· Order remaining materials by Friday
