156B Week 7
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis: Completed analysis about buoyancy, Solidworks analysis of buoy, preliminary analysis on power consumption
Design: Design completed for all hardware. Started design for plumbing and wiring
Test: Pumps and valves were tested. Going to test prototype as soon as fabrication of CPVC tube and Bulkhead are complete
Fabrication: CPVC tube 60% completed. Remaining: Bulkhead and internal housing
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Pumps, valves, CPVC tube, and batteries were obtained from sponsor
CPVC tube obtained. Fabrication 60% completed.
Preliminary design for plumbing and electric circuit completed
Pumps and Valves were run to test their performance
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Start Programming (James, Mike)
Complete Bulkhead and CPVC tube fabrication (Gary, Austin, Mike)
Start Internal Housing Fabrication (James)
Obtain all materials needed (Mike)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor found alternative battery packs. Power system and plumbing design were modified to accommodate the change. (Meeting 5/11)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Schottky diode should be added at junction of the two battery unit connected in parallel to prevent flow of current between battery units.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Need to re-do buoyancy analysis for reduced length of CPVC tube and change of battery pack.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent $220 for purchasing 7" delrin rod of 1' long
$200 Left
Progress on Report and Webpage
Completed first draft of report and webpage. Going to revise report this week
