Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis: Completed calculation for length of buoy for optimum buoyancy performance and obtained equations for determining amount of working fluid needed for the floatation, Analysis of speed of Travelling Speed in water completed
Design: Finalized design for Bulkhead, Inner Housing, Position of components, electronics tray. Coordinated designs for holes position, choice of bolt size/type
Test: Tom and Isaiah has completed pressure chamber for us to test prototype anytime, which will greatly reduce our expenses.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Completed design of bulkhead incorporating choice of O-rings and bolting with electronics tray
Modified design of electronics tray to reduce material needed and small alternations to fit phone better and better mass distribution
Analysis on travelling speed of buoy in water completed. Started power consumption analysis
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finalize number of batteries to be used (Whole Team)
Start programming and sensor implementation, and contact electrical engineers through sponsor for programming help (James)
Continue Fabrication (Mike, Gary, Austin)
Print out electronics tray (Gary)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Modification on Bulkhead: Added chamfer to bottom of Bulkhead and changed dimension after incorporating consideration on O-rings (Meeting 4/26)
Comment on Diameter of the CPVC tube (Meeting 4/26). Decided to stick with 6' diameter tube after considering spacing and strength of material
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Dr. Tustaniskyj commented that Speed Analysis should be done for the buoy. Comment was taken and analysis was done.
Issues about Power source. Number of Batteries needed to be considered in detail
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Battery life can only last for several hours after power consumption analysis
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
