156B Week 4
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis: Completed calculation for length of buoy for optimum buoyancy performance and obtained equations for determining amount of working fluid needed for the floatation
Design: Finalized design for Bulkhead, Inner Housing, Position of components, electronics tray
Test: Price, procedure for reserving a time slot for testing were clarified. Will carry out test when prototype is ready. Tom and Isaiah are also working on providing a pressure chamber for us.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Dimension of buoy is finalized (6" diameter, 2' long)
Derived equation for amount of fluorinert neededÂ
Modified design for bulkhead after hearing sponsor's feedback
Completed design for electronics tray, and ready to pass file to Chris Cassidy for 3D printing
Purchased IOIO board, 10' of 6" diameter CPVC tube
Received CTD Sensor and Sensor board from Sponsor
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Purchase and obtain remaining material (Delrin for bulkhead, pumps and valves from sponsor) (Mike)
Start programming and sensor implementation (James)
Fabrication (Mike, Gary, Austin)
Complete electronics tray (Gary)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Modification on Bulkhead: Added Port Seal on the bulkhead for releasing pressure in the buoy (Meeting 4/19)
Advice from Sponsor about plumbing system (Meeting 4/19)
Advice from Sponsor about electronics tray and internal housing (Meeting 4/19)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Axial Bolts on CPVC tube should not be a problem for the strength of the tube considering the tube's thickness (Presentation 4/18)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
