Summer Music Camps

Summer Music Camps are a WONDERFUL addition to your musical training. They can be literally life changing positive experiences, and certainly were for me. I attended five different camps as a student, for a total of nine summer sessions. I have served on the faculty for these summer camps, for a total of more than 20 sessions:

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (Michigan)

Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign)

University of Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic (UW-Madison)

OPUS Chamber Music Camp (Naperville, a day camp)

Brevard Music Center (North Carolina)

Most Summer Music Camps cancelled for 2020, some are back in person for 2021 (including Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp), some are offering some adjusted online learning options. One of the best updated resources for strings and orchestra camps is linked here:

Our York Music Boosters also offer generous scholarships to help pay for summer camps. Look here to fine applications and details:

Other camps attended by York students include:

UW-Whitewater Summer Music Camp (Whitewater, Wisconsin)

Lakeland University (Sheboygan, Wisconsin)

Eastern Music Festival (North Carolina)

Interlochen Fine Arts Camp (Michigan)

As a high school student, consider helping with the summer middle school or elementary orchestra at York! Contact Cassie Deck (cdeck@elmhurst205.org) or Mike Pavlik (mpavlik@elmhurst205.org) for more information. You do not need to be able to make every rehearsal to participate, and you may earn service credit hours.

Feel free to email me with specific questions regarding summer camps, private lessons or additional resources.
