The AFSA (American Fire Sprinkler Association) Scholarship -
This contest is open to high school seniors who plan to further their education at a college/university or certified trade school. The scholarship is not based on financial need. All applicants must read the "Fire Sprinkler Essay” (pdf or html--approximately 3000 words) about automatic fire sprinklers and take a ten-question
multiple-choice test. This is an open-book test and you may print out the paper beforehand for reference during testing. Ten (10) scholarships each in sum of $2,000 will be given. For more information see http://www.afsascholarship.org/.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship -
program awards approximately 20 scholarships in sum of $10,000/renewable 4 years to students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. See www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships.
National FFA Organization -
Awards approximately $2 million in scholarships. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. Not an FFA Member? Don't Worry! Cargill, Dean Foods, Foundation for Environmental Agriculture, Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd., and National Mastitis Council scholarships are available to non-members. Timberline Billing Service, LLC. - January 15, 2026
Student must be on or have an IEP during secondary education. Student must be graduating in the school year of the award. Student must be attending a district with contracts with Timberline Billing. Students must have applied to an educational institution for the following school year. Student must submit an essay of no more than 500 words. Paperwork for this scholarship is in Mrs. Henderson's Office.
Mensa Scholarship Essay Contest
is open to anyone who will be attending college and the applicant is a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States. For the general awards, the applicant need not be a member of Mensa nor qualified for Mensa. Awards are in sum of $300-$1,000. To download entry form see: www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships. ISEA Scholarships for Future Teachers -
helps sons or daughters of Association members become teachers. Applicants must have completed 60 semester hours (or equivalent) or they must be considered a junior at the college or university in which they are enrolled. A statement of enrollment in the teacher education program is also required. In addition, applicants must also indicate by their transcript and a written statement their intent to become a teacher. John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest -
will award scholarships from $500-$10,000 to students in grades 9-12. Student must write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. Better Business Bureau -
will award five $2,500 Students of Integrity scholarships to high school seniors. One application per school will be accepted. Criteria includes writing an essay relating to ethical decision making. See Counselor. Better Business Bureau

Buchanan County Farm Bureau - to apply for Farm Bureau scholarships
Farm Bureau scholarships are reserved for current IFBF members (and their children) who are in good standing with the organization. To be considered, a student must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA), be involved in extra-curricular activities, and be accepted into an accredited higher education institution (including community colleges and technical schools).
