Earth and Environmental Science

Subject Rationale

The Earth and Environmental Science Stage 6 Syllabus explores the Earth’s renewable and non-renewable resources and also environmental issues. An understanding of the Earth’s resources and the ability to live sustainably on the planet is a central purpose of the study of Earth and Environmental Science. Earth and Environmental Science is also an engaging course for students who are interested in science in general but may not want to take on the more rigorous, and focussed science courses. Students who may have an appreciation for the environment around them or want to know more about their world should consider this course. This course is less mathematical than Physics and Chemistry, but still requires reasonable data analysis and processing skill development. The course content is significant and requires adherence to an organised reading and revision habit.
