Carrington Partnership

The ‘Through Our Eyes’ reminiscence partnership program with Carrington Aged Care facility has been running since 2011 under the leadership of Mrs Shareen Borg. The program features Year 11 students who spend time, after a period of training and preparation, with residents of the facility learning and reminiscing with an older generation.

This reminiscence might be achieved with the assistance of photographs of the residents' lives, by listening to music together or through discussion about their families, work and joys. The students combine the experience into a multimedia presentation, which is screened and gifted to the residents and their families at a special afternoon tea at the conclusion of the program.

The program has had a very successful year in 2016, with the program receiving national recognition taking out the 2016 National Aged Care Quality Pastoral and Spiritual Care Practice Award. An outstanding achievement for all involved.

The Program expanded in 2017 with residents from Carrington Visiting Magdalene for "a day back at school". A great tradition that has continued ever since.

If you are in Year 11 and would like to be involved please see Mrs Borg or Mr Collins for more information
