Classified Staff Evaluations
Please review the information below regarding the evaluation of classified staff. The information is separated by employee groups and/or unions.
District 65 Educational Secretarial and Clerical Association (DESC)
Which employees belong in this evaluation category?
DESC employees include administrative assistants, clerical employees, health clerks, nutrition service employees, technology specialists, library media assistants, registered nurses, and bilingual transportation specialists.
How often are DESC members evaluated?
At least every other year.
How should I determine which DESC members get evaluated this year?
Please reference page 9 of the DESC collective bargaining agreement. Each employee shall have a conference with their immediate supervisor at least every other year, and will be provided a written evaluation of their job performance using the educational support personnel evaluation form.
By when must the DESC member receive their evaluation?
Per the DESC collective bargaining agreement (refer to page 9), every reasonable effort will be made to evaluate 12-month bargaining unit employees and technology specialists by July 1st but no later than July 15th, and by the last day of school (end of school attendance days) for 10-month and 11-month employees.
The evaluation period for 12-month DESC members in Financial Services is November 1st through October 31st, but no later than November 15th.
Each employee shall have the opportunity to respond in writing to the evaluation. Each evaluation will become a part of the employee’s personnel file.
Is there a notification requirement?
Yes. DESC members must be notified that they will be receiving an evaluation at least 15 calendar days prior to the evaluation occurring.

Evanston Association of Child Care Professionals (EACCP)
Which employees belong in this evaluation category?
EACCP employees include site coordinators and group leaders employed by the District’s School Age Child Care (SAAC) program and teacher assistants, secretaries, kitchen aides, and health clerks in the Head Start program. Concierges - new to EACCP - are also included in this category.
How often are EACCP employees evaluated?
Once every year.
By when must employees receive their evaluation?
Every reasonable effort should complete the formal evaluation by June 1st.
Head Start teacher assistants shall be evaluated by the Head Start administrator with classroom teachers submitting input to their evaluation. Head Start teacher assistants will be evaluated no later than five (5) days prior to the end of the school calendar year.
Each employee shall have the opportunity to respond in writing to the evaluation. Each evaluation will become a part of the employee’s personnel file.
What form do I use?

Evanston Teacher Assistants Association (ETAA)
Which employees belong in this evaluation category?
ETAA employees include paraprofessionals and paraprofessional signing aides.
How often are ETAA employees evaluated?
At least every other year.
How should I determine which paraprofessionals get evaluated this year?
Per the ETAA collective bargaining agreement (refer to page 8), each employee shall have a conference with their immediate supervisor at least every other year and will be provided a written evaluation of their job performance using the Paraprofessional Summative Evaluation of Job Performance form.
By when must the paraprofessional receive their evaluation?
Per the ETAA collective bargaining agreement, every reasonable effort will be made to complete the formal evaluation by the last day of school (school attendance day) for 10- month employees.
Each employee shall have the opportunity to respond in writing to the evaluation. Each evaluation will become a part of the employee’s personnel file.
What form do I use?

Evanston Custodial/Maintenance Association (ECMA) Evaluations
Which employees belong in this evaluation category?
ECMA employees include full-time and part-time custodial and maintenance employees, including general custodians, drivers, second person in middle school, head custodians in elementary and middle schools, and warehouse employees.
How often are ECMA employees evaluated?
Annually
By when must ECMA employees receive their evaluation?
Custodial employees must receive their evaluation by the last day of the school year.
What form do I use?
Please use this form to complete custodial evaluations. Head custodians should receive feedback on all lines including the ones marked for head custodians.
