Information for the subjects will be coming shortly!
READING: We finished reading Home of the Brave. The class and I really enjoyed it. Ask your child about the plot of this novel. We also read in our class novel Three Times Lucky. The kids worked in Breakout Sessions to work on Figurative Language and then they independently worked on Characterization. We will continue this work during the upcoming week along with MAP testing.
MATH: We have been working on Chapter 2 Multiplying Whole Numbers. We have had to spend a lot of time working on Prime Factorization, Powers and Exponents, and Powers of Ten. It has be necessary to review all of these lessons.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We spent time this week working on how to properly sequence events in narratives. As a grade level, we have seen a lack of sequencing in the kids' writing. This is definitely something to work on.
SCIENCE: We have started Unit #4 The Earth, Sun, and Moon. We read and discussed the sixth lesson: How Does the Moon Seem to Move and Change Shape? The kids also had an opportunity to view some videos that helped support the reading we have done. They started an assignment on the TCi website. The kids also spent time working on the study guide for Unit #4.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Currently not studying Social Studies. We are starting Chapter 4 Lesson 3 on Friday 10/30/20.
SEL: We have started our remote learning version of our class meeting. We always start with compliments of one another. The kids have shared some very thoughtful compliments. I have given the kids some time to just chat with each other in some breakout sessions. This continues to be one of their favorite parts of our week.

Here is our schedule for this year in Room 206:
**Please make sure your child has a pair of gym shoes on the days we have P.E.
**Feel free to send a water bottle to school as well as a sweater or sweatshirt. It can get a bit chilly in the room for some of my students.
**Please don't forget to send healthy snacks to school. Make sure you are sensitive to food allergies!
**If any students have forgotten their homework at school, they may e-mail me in the evening to see if I am available for the child to come in and complete their work. I would ask that they wait to see my response just in case I might have a meeting or something. If it is OK to come in, then they may come in at 8:20. : )
**The best way to contact me is through my school e-mail. I do check my voice mail every morning before the students arrive, but my replies are much faster with e-mail. If you or your child has a question or concern after school hours, I check my e-mail a couple of times each evening after my own kids go to bed. I have been able to answer questions before the kids return the next morning.
