ORCHESTRAS
Cannon Valley Youth Orchestra values cooperation and friendly instruction. Students in CVYO's 3 string ensembles learn to follow and to lead, and to make great music for each season's final concert.

Have at least 1 year of note-reading and playing experience on string instrument
Understand the concept of sharp and natural
Playing Essential Elements 1, end of Suzuki Book 1, or above
Violins + Violas: play with high and low 2nd fingers as well as low 1st on the E string; study 1- and 2-octave scales in 1st position

Cellos: play with 2nd + 3rd fingers, learning forward and backward extensions in 1st position
Basses: shift into 3rd position
MOZART

Proficient note reader in 1st position in key signatures with 3 sharps to 2 flats
Starting or proficient in vibrato
Playing Suzuki late Book 2 or above, Essential Elements Book 3 or above
Violins, Violas + Cellos: studying 2-octave scales into 2nd-4th positions

Cellos: shift into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions
Basses: play in 1st-5th positions
