FIND A TEACHER
CHOOSING A STRINGS TEACHER
Does the teacher have experience working with your student's ability level ?
Do they offer references for you to contact?
What is their teaching method (Suzuki or some other) ?
When do they introduce specific techniques - shifting, vibrato, etc.?
What is their fee?
How long is the lesson?
Do they teach both during the school year and in the summer months?
Where do the lessons take place?
What are the teacher's expectations? Do they offer group lessons? How much at-home practice is expected? Do parents attend lessons? Does the teacher host recitals?
Always consider a "trial" lesson before committing to a long-term relationship with any teacher. Also, ask to attend a sample lesson and the next student recital, in order to personally evaluate the teacher's approach to learning and performance.
These string teachers have not been evaluated by CVYO and, so, aren't endorsed by the organization. Our purpose is to provide a venue for local teachers to promote their teaching to CVYO students.
