Lab alumn Mike Schatz now a Bloomberg Professor at JHU

Mike Schatz, who received his PhD from the CS department in 2010 has just received a Bloomberg Professorship in the CS department at Johns Hopkins University. Mike worked jointly with Steven Salzberg and Mihai Pop and his thesis focused on the use of Map-Reduce approaches for genomic applications such as sequence alignment and assembly. Until this year Mike was an Assistant Professor at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories.

Mike has become the 21st Bloomberg Distinguished Professor from the total 50 chairs endowed by Michael Bloomberg.
