Brian and Jay have attended WABI 2016 in Aarhus, Denmark, each presenting a paper.
Brian presented "Further Improvement in Approximating the Maximum Duo-Preservation String Mapping Problem", and
Jay presented "Better Identification of Repeats in Metagenomic Scaffolding".
Mihai co-organized a workshop at Schloss Dagstuhl Leibniz Zentrum Für Informatik, focused on Next Generation Sequencing - Algorithms, and Software For Biomedical Applications. The meeting brought together a broad range of scientists (see if you can identify them all in the picture below), including lab alumnus Ben Langmead, and CBCB alumnus Adam Phillippy.
Last but not least, Candice, Victoria, and Mihai participated in the 3rd BEST summer course in Heiligkreuztal, Germany, in partnership with colleagues from the University of Tübingen.
