Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are rapidly emerging as powerful resources in the field of education. Creighton’s technology and learning teams are exploring the potential of AI to enhance teaching, learning, and supporting our District’s goals. By exploring and understanding AI tools, we can gain valuable insights into how these technologies can be integrated into our instructional practices. While our current priority is on staff development, we recognize the transformative potential of AI for students as well. In the future, we will explore ways to leverage AI tools to support personalized learning, creativity, and critical thinking among our students.
As we explore these emerging technologies, we hold these beliefs in mind:
Artificial Intelligence has the potential to be the catalyst for positive transformation of education models.
Responsible, teacher- and learner-centric, implementation requires a nuanced understanding of the ethical implications.
We will continue to maintain strong practices for student and staff data security. We only share student data (names, account info, student IDs, etc.) with approved products. Every employee is responsible for maintaining our data integrity.
If you’re interested in exploring, there are a few ways you can get started on your own:
Arizona AI Guidance: This guidance document is designed to give Arizona schools and school systems direction as well as a common language as we collectively pursue effective and responsible implementation of Gen AI.
AI Literacy Framework: A structured guide that defines the knowledge, skills, and ethical values people need to understand, evaluate, and use artificial intelligence safely and responsibly
Our list of approved applications may include AI tools and features for employees to interact with District Data. AI features introduced in these applications can utilize private Creighton information, including student data, as they have been vetted and approved by the district.
Tools include:
For Staff:
For Students:
You may explore other tools that are not pre-approved for use with student private data as long as you do never include any identifiable information about students or other private data.
Language Models:
Several language model tools exist where you can have a natural conversation with an AI tool to create, edit, or summarize text. We recommend you try ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
Magic School is a language model designed specifically for educators' needs.
Image and Video Creation:
Use Gemini to create your own images using simple text prompts.
Common Sense Education:
The district has recommended the use of the Common Sense Media Digital Literacy and Well-Being Curriculum Resources for supporting students in the safe and responsible use of technology.
A team of teachers worked to organize the materials in a user-friendly format for CSD teachers. To increase the ease of use, the team created documents for each grade level, supplying the learning target and success criteria for each lesson as well as any content and CASEL competency alignment.
