Reportback: YWCA summit, connected with educators, organizers and “professional business people”. Open discussions resulted in ideas that were alike to some already brought up by milestone such as open spaces for counseling and other important mental health issues. Used similar consensus methods to talk about important features of milestone, Including mental and physical safety. Other groups talked about not having grading and only feedback, diversity in staff, engaging, real-life learning and students and families should be represented. Groups talked about what teachers want and need and did not talk much about the students. Most ideas were repetitive of ideas from past design meetings.
Reportback: Carroll University. One athletic space for most sports, also library is used as a study space for students that include free tutors. To get a tutor you sign up with your name and time. A unique graduation requirement is that you must study abroad. However, it was mostly white people.
Info: The Hawthorn project offered training in mental health from a nature perspective. Its a year long training that will give Milestone a new perspective on mental health.
Site update: Dale is now a supporter of Milestone and will give us the best lease that does not have him lose money. To get the deal we want we will have to do a lot of fundraising to pay for renovation, cleaning, etc.
