Check in -
Stefano shared "student vs teacher" video
S: "how you gonna make a school for the future, if that future doesn't exist yet" -- this is the main reason why we're designing Milestone
A: seen it before, it's cool
Sean: curious to see how people's experience
D: liked it
G: "made me reflect - I am a good student, I like competition and being in the front. That's how I was raised, to get good grades. In LA countries, the goal is always to follow other people's stories, get good grades, go to college, get a career. But am I learning something?"
Listening Sessions
Gersely is ready, but parents are often unavailable or not able/willing
Will try to reach out to other parents (one from Togo)
Majority of people I could ask would have the idea of a traditional school with grades etc -- how to avoid the old school mindset?
Alex: People are not willing to talk
Success: Teddy the delivery driver!
Not a lot of connections... could try to contact kids from other schools
Stefano: doesn't think parent input will match our own values -- they're not the ones that experience it -- Milestone should be student built
But: (Gersely) parents still have a stake in it
Also: we don't HAVE to take their advice
Idea: Sean will invite a bunch of stakeholders to our next meeting to do a bunch of listening sessions all at once.
School Visits
Looked at MMSD schedule -- talked about best days to take off
Everyone is willing to make arrangements to miss school
Agreed to pursue visits to:
Tallgrass Sudbury
the Met

Avoid off-task arguments
Use breaks better to keep focus
