Driver's Education

Welcome to Driver's Education.

Requirements to enroll in Driver Education/Safety Education:

This course is offered to students who are at least 15 years old, with adult/guardian permission.

This course is a two-phase program consisting of at least 30 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction, including observation hours.

Seats will be filled based on age, with the oldest students receiving first priority. Students will need to pass the “Rules of the Road” test to be able to receive an Illinois driver’s permit.

Students must pass eight courses within the past two semesters, including courses from eighth grade. This course has a $300 lab fee and $20 permit fee to the Secretary of State of Illinois.

Freshman students may register if they are 15 years of age by the following cutoff dates:

Semester 1 (2018 birthday before 8/1/2004)

Semester 2 (2019 birthday before 1/1/2005)

Driver Education Classroom is a one-credit graduation safety required course.
