Course Expectations:
Students are expected to arrive to class prepared and ready to participate in class discussions. As this is an upper level art offering, students are expected to spend a substantial amount of time outside of class completing assignments. Students are also expected to handle all school equipment with care. Finally, all students are expected to follow school and classroom rules and behave in a safe and respectful manner while in the classroom.
Course Evaluation:
In class Art Assignments (80%): All assignments will be turned in via flash drive or uploaded to your google docs folder on the due date. Late work will be accepted up to two weeks late with penalty per week late.
Sketchbook and Written Assignments (20 %) : Sketchbooks will be checked weekly and will be based on assignments given.
Final exam will be given at the end of the semester and will be worth 20% of your overall grade.
Class Rules and Expectations:
Maintain regular attendance and be on time.
Plan, organize and complete projects and assigned tasks on time and meeting standards of
quality.
Take responsibility of workspace, materials, and missed classes.
Maintain appropriate interactions with staff and other students.
No cell phones or ipods during class.

Graphic Design is a semester-long, half credit course. The course will focus on how we communicate through art and design and combines the use of art and technology. Students will expand upon their prior knowledge of the elements and principles of design, art media and techniques, color theory, and typography. Also, students will learn to use Adobe Photoshop to generate unique solutions to two-dimensional design problems. Students will utilize examples from the visual culture of marketing & advertising, multicultural art, textile, architecture, and functional objects.
