Letter by Bartlesville Public Schools SuperintendentDr. Gary Quinn after the successful bond vote on Tuesday, August 28, 2012
On behalf of the Bartlesville Public School District, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the Bartlesville community for passing both bond propositions on Tuesday.
The willingness of BPSD teachers, staff, parents, students and Bartlesville community members to help is what truly made
this bond proposal successful. Countless people volunteered many hours of their time with one common goal, to continue the
excellence in the Bartlesville Public School District.
The Long Range Facilities Planning Committee and all of the sub-committees did an outstanding job helping to formulate our
proposal and allowing us to achieve a YES vote.
Passage of the bond proposal is a great success for the BPSD. Students and staff throughout the district will benefit greatly from this outstanding result.
As a school district, we felt the proposal that we put forth to the voters on Tuesday covered the essentials for operation in our district and it was fiscally responsible. We are glad that the community embraced our plan and has allowed us the opportunity to continue improving our school district and giving Bartlesville students the great education for which we are known.
I look forward to getting various projects included in the bond underway. From playground updates to a new secured entrance at Hoover Elementary School, I know all projects will be welcome additions to the district. Replacing 1990s model buses is extremely
necessary. Also, having bond funds for essential curriculum needs and technology refreshes will be beneficial.
One part of the bond that particularly stands out to me is the improvements at Richard Kane Elementary. Our youngest students
will no longer have to attend classes in portables (it also signifies the removal of the last portables from BPSD elementary schools).
Students will have a new early childhood learning center that will allow them to maximize their potential and get the most out of every day. I cannot wait to watch the construction take place at Richard Kane Elementary and view the final result, which will be exceptional.
Tuesday evening truly was a great night for the Bartlesville Public School District and the Bartlesville community. Thank you again for your outstanding support. As a district, we will continue to strive for excellence and continue to be the best district we can be.
