Boise vs Timberline - Loss - 5-7

Post date: Apr 15, 2019 12:38:33 PM

This past Wednesday the Boise Braves traveled to Timberline to take on one of our biggest rivals.  The rain held off, but in its place were sustained 20-30 mph winds.  We knew it was going to be a tough match, but were mentally prepared.  Unfortunately the Braves tennis team went down for the first time this season with a hard fought 7-5 loss.  Highlights of the match include:

Nick and JJ Byrne with another dominant performance at the #1 boys doubles position.

Jenn Wong and Greta Walser coming up with a big win at #2 girls doubles.  They defeated last years state champions in three sets, with an overwhelming 6-1 win in the third.

Tessa Staley with a quick 6-0,6-0 win in the #3 spot to keep the girls alive.

Nick Lubamersky and Allison Gee posted a big win in mixed.

The Mullin siblings(Iggy and Sophia) combined in mixed and played valiantly in a tough loss.

Pete Bard and Liam Gibson were able to fight off a pesky #2 doubles team.

Player of the Match - Sophie Copple.  While she and her partner did not get the win, she played incredibly to finish the night.  She was putting away volleys, hitting big serves, and smashing returns.  We are looking forward to seeing what she can accomplish the rest of the season.
