Sergeant E5 Dick Pace was drafted in the United States Army in 1969 and served 2 years. Mr. Pace was trained as an infantryman on the 81mm mortar. He had orders for Vietnam and was at his primary station to leave when President Nixon started the call back of all military soldiers. He was part of the first group of soldiers who were not deployed to Vietnam. He was stationed in Alaska. After his military service, Mr. Pace attended college and then spent 35 years working in banking.
